Американские спецслужбы провели успешную операцию и закрыли интернет-магазин The Farmer's Market, который торговал наркотиками, маскируя IP-адрес через сеть анонимайзеров Tor. В результате операции арестованы восемь человек, причастных к деятельности нелегальной торговой площадки. По информации следствия, среди клиентов магазина есть жители всех штатов США, а также ещё 34 стран.Документы по делу, имена и ники арестованных опубликованы здесь. Как следует из документов, операция была проведена ещё в сентябре 2011 года, но только сейчас, перед судебными слушаниями, информация опубликована в открытом доступе.Интересны некоторые технические детали, как работал интернет-магазин и как его владельцы соблюдали конспирацию. С 2009 года для приёма заказов и обслуживания клиентов они пользовались только веб-почтой Hushmail. Это канадский почтовый провайдер, который предлагает бесплатный сервис криптографически защищённой электронной почты и мгновенных сообщений.С января 2010 года операторы сайта решили улучшить защиту и перешли на использование сети анонимайзеров Tor, с помощью которого можно полностью скрыть IP-адрес сайта и защитить от перехвата электронную почту и IM.Приём платежей был организован через посредника, который принимал платежи по Western Union, Paypal, Pecunix, I-Golder, затем брал свою комиссию, а остаток денег перечислял через систему Western Union на так называемых «дропов», от которых организаторы сайта и получали деньги. Кроме того, деньги пересылались по почте в обычных конвертах.Обороты у магазина были не очень большие, потому что он специализировался на розничной продаже лёгких наркотиков. Например, с мая 2008-го по май 2010-го года обработали через Western Union 608 заказов на сумму 200 031 долларов, то есть средний размер заказа составлял всего 328 долларов. Учитывая другие каналы получения денег, реальный оборот магазина составлял около миллиона долларов в год.Операцию по выслеживанию владельцев интернет-магазина в течение двух лет вели агенты Управления по борьбе с наркотиками Лос-Анджелеса. Операция была проведена спустя год после того, как журналисты The Gawker обнаружили интернет-магазин Silk Road («Шёлковый путь»), и опубликовали в открытом доступе информацию о нём, включая адрес в сети Tor. Магазин «Шёлковый путь» работает до сих пор, торгуя всеми возможными нелегальными веществами, что ещё раз доказывает надёжность технологий Tor. Администраторы магазина Silk Road гораздо тщательнее относятся к вопросу анонимности и принимают платежи исключительно через систему Bitcoin.
